Arlington,

Arlington is an historic village nestled between the Taconic Range and Green Mountains of Vermont. Hugged by the mountains, fed by the pristine waters of the Battenkill River and blessed with unsurpassed natural beauty, ours is a warm and welcoming community. Many wonderful people have made Arlington their home, including Norman Rockwell who lived here from 1939-1953 on scenic River Road and chose the folks of Arlington to be the models for some of his memorable Saturday Evening Post covers. Arlington is still a vital and active community with many fun events year-round for the whole family to enjoy.Home to revolutionary era "Green Mountain Boys" Ethan and Ira Allen and their men, capital of Vermont in 1787, and seat of the first governor, Thomas Chittenden, Arlington has a long and colorful history. Arlington is a wonderful place at any time of year. Hiking, biking, fishing in the Battenkill, golfing, skiing at Bromley or Stratton Mountains are all here to enjoy. We have many charming lodgings and restaurants featuring the finest in Vermont hospitality and dining. Whether you fancy elegant and gourmet or down home and hearty country, there's a style and place for every visitor. Antiques, gift shops, Vermont products, candy, art, candles - all are available here for you. Aside from being a great place to visit, Arlington is also a wonderful place to live. |
