The Catherine Ward House is located on a quiet street in the Victorian District one half block from magnificent Forsyth Park (known for its formal gardens, elegant fountain, civil war monuments, open spaces, public tennis and basketball courts).

You will find Historic District shopping, restaurants, museums, and over 250 years of history are within a few minutes stroll. We offer a host of unique ideas and stand ready to make your stay in Savannah memorable.

The Catherine Ward House is one of the most elegant and comfortable inns in Savannah. Each of our nine specially appointed guestrooms has either a queen or a king size bed and its own private bath with shower. A couple of baths have a two person Jacuzzi and one room even has a two-person shower. 

All of the rooms have beautiful old fireplaces and mantles. In some rooms, the fireplaces still work and in others, we have allowed them to retire. 

Most rooms open onto porches and balconies leading to our quiet, green courtyard with a fishpond and fountain. 

All of our rooms have complimentary robes and hair dryers for you to use during your stay. There is cable television, a small refrigerator with free water and soda, free WiFi, and CD/clock radios in every room.

Main House Rooms


Catherine's Room

This oversized, sun-drenched corner room on the top floor is named for Catherine Ward, for whom the house was built in 1886.

Captain's Room
Named for Captain James Ward, an Irish Sea Captain, who built this exceptional house for his new wife in the developing Victorian District.

Jim Williams' Room
This smallest room on the top floor is named for Jim Williams, who is credited with having saved as many as 60 private homes in the Historic and Victorian Districts.

Jessica's Room

Following the Captain’s death, Catherine took in two boarders, Misses Jessica and Nell Lynch. This spacious room has its own private porch.

Nell's Room
Nell’s Room is immediately next door to Jessica’s with windows that face a quiet lot on the side of the house.

Garden Room
The Queen size four-poster bed is surrounded by black and white French Country wallpaper, complimented by apple green silk bedding. The petit bathroom includes a window and shower.

Carriage House Rooms


Hibernian Room

The smallest of all our rooms, the Hibernian Room is elegant and inviting with white and green leaf wallpaper and mirrored chest of drawers, silver and cranberry hurricane candlesticks.

Sea Trade Room
This grand room has a fireplace, two-person Jacuzzi, and a porch overlooking the courtyard.

Cosmopolitan Room
Catherine sold the house to the proprietor of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Savannah. The name suggests the high style of this chic room with its wet bar, two person shower, and private balcony.
