Located in the town of Sutter Creek, in the heart of the Mother Lode, the Grey Gables Inn brings a touch of the English Countryside to the Gold Country. With eight comfortable bedrooms, a formal dining room, and a large parlor with a double alcove, the Grey Gables Inn has the unmistakable look and feel of an English Country Manor.
Each fully carpeted guest room has its own fireplace, accented with rich wood trim and marble tile. There’s a spacious armoire in which to hang your clothes, a dresser for your foldables, and a roomy, comfortable bed to snuggle down in. The warm woodgrain of fine antique furnishings is accented by colorful wall coverings in pink and green florals. Each room has a tiled private bath—all with showers and many with a traditional clawfoot tub. For your warm-weather comfort, each room is also individually air conditioned.
Outside, red bricked pathways lead the way to a terraced garden that invites a stroll through the arbors, or quiet conversation in seclusion among the vines and flowers. Leave your cares behind as you delight in birds splashing in the fountains or twittering about in the wisteria.
In true English tradition, there is afternoon tea with cakes or scones served in the parlor. In the evening, before you leave for dinner at one of the area’s fine local restaurants, wine and hors d’oeuvres are available.The full breakfast, served on fine bone china, is a delight for the senses, as the aroma of fresh coffee, fruits, and juices precede and accompany each morning’s tasty culinary creation.  If you prefer, breakfast can be served in the privacy of your room.

The Byron

The Byron is on the main floor, off the central hallway. Decor is dark rose and deep green floral with forest green carpet and dark wood furnishings. This room has a striking four-poster canopy King bed, side chairs, a clawfoot tub/shower combination in the bathroom, and a marvelous garden view.

The Browning
The Browning is on the northeast corner of the main floor. It has lavender and teal green decor, a brass Queen bed, pine furnishings, and clawfoot tub/shower combination in the bathroom. This room also has a full garden view from the bay window.

The Wordsworth

The Wordsworth is on the southeast corner of the main floor off the central hall. With a “Sewing Room” motif, it features a soft green and floral comforter and window treatments, and a French classic Queen bed. The bay window has a wonderful view of the nearby historic Churchyard. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower.

The Shelley
The Shelley is a cozy room on the main level with deep rose and Jacobean decor, a Victorian loveseat, and Eastlake Queen bed. The room and its bath facilities are fully accessible for the handicapped, with the bathoom having a  tub/shower combination.

The Bronte

The Bronte is off the lower level hallway and has pink and green decor with Jacobean wall coverings and a King size bed.  There is also a sitting area with couch, and a wonderful garden view. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower. 

The Tennyson
The Tennyson features Laura Ashley wall coverings and a comforter in dark greens and blues on the French Revival Queen bed. Located off the lower level hall, this room has a garden view and comfy day bed for reading or lounging, or to accommodate a third person. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower.

The Keats

The Keats is on the lower level with easy access to the parking lot and grounds. Decor is lavender and pink with dark wood furniture, including a classic French Queen bed. The bay window seating area has a panoramic garden view. The bathroom has a large walk-in shower.

The Rossetti
The Rossetti Room (aka - Victorian Suite) occupies the upstairs level of the inn. It has dark green carpet and soft pink walls with coordinating accessories, a four-poster King bed, large armoire, and a table for tea and breakfast tucked away in the alcove. The bathroom features a clawfoot tub/shower combination. This large, comfy suite overlooks both the garden and historic churchyard.

Policies
  • Rates quoted include a 15% Auto Club/AARP/etc. discount. Please ask for details.
  • Most rooms are designed for two persons. We do not allow additional persons in cots, or sleeping bags on the floor.
  • The Tennyson has both a Queen and a Twin bed, and can comfortably accommodate 3 persons, or 2 persons in separate beds.
  • NO SMOKING ------ NO PETS
  • Check-in is between 3:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. Check-out is 11:00 A.M.
  • Please advise us of expected late check-in.
  • Minimum Stay:
  • We require a 2 night booking if a Saturday night is involved (either Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun). The exception to this is on a non-holiday weekend, if a room is already booked for the Friday, we will then offer that room for a single Saturday night booking. Please call for availability.
  • Cancellations:
  • Your pre-payment, less $20 cancellation fee, will be refunded provided cancellation is made ten days or more prior to the reserved date.
  • Friday night only bookings will require full payment in advance. Refunds on cancellations will only be given if the room is re-booked, less a $20 cancellation fee.
