Welcome

The Highland Inn is nestled on a wooded hillside overlooking the Haro Strait where it joins the Strait of Juan De Fuca. San Juan Island is home to three resident pods of orca whales. From April through October the waters below our inn are their feeding and play grounds. They are easily seen and heard from our expansive decks. Bald eagles, owls and a myriad of other birds find nests along our coastline. Deer abound. Whale WatchPark and the Lime Kiln Lighthouse are just a mile up the coast with many hiking trails and picnic spots along the way. We are blessed with a mild climate situated in the "rain shadow" of Vancouver Island and enjoy a sunny southwest exposure. Dress is casual on the island. Sweaters or jackets for cooler nights.

This very private setting is the perfect location for romance, anniversary, honeymoon or just a quiet getaway surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. We are near . . . but so far away.

A gourmet breakfast is served each morning in your suite, in the dining room or on the covered veranda overlooking the sea. Afternoon tea and fresh baked cookies welcome you on arrival or when you return from an exciting day of exploring the island. Our inn is open all year. A two night minimum is required for Saturday reservations. Two spacious guest suites are individually decorated with your every comfort and pleasure in mind.
