Dave and Heidi Lanford welcome you to The Iris Inn Bed & Breakfast. Nestled on 12 wooded acres, on the west side of the Blue Ridge Mountains and overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, this modern facility makes it ideal for a weekend romantic retreat. The inn also offers a refreshing change for the business traveler or a tranquil setting for the tourist to spend a few nights or a week.

The Inn was architecturally designed for comfort and for the mountain views and woodsy feel. All rooms have private access to outdoor decks with plenty of seating to enjoy the scenery, read a book or take a snooze. Its convenient location provides a home base for exploring many of the area attractions including the Shenandoah Valley, Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, Charlottesville, The University of Virginia, Monticello and many fine local wineries.

The focal point of the Inn is the Great Room with it's 28 foot stone fireplace and a 48 square foot canvas depicting wildlife in the Blue Ridge Mountains. A full breakfast is served in the Great Room and features an entrée along with home baked breads, coffee, juice and fruit. A “bottomless” cookie jar is located on the sideboard and beverages are available at check in time.

As you enter the drive to the Iris Inn, it happens. The quiet peacefulness and natural beauty embrace you. This Inn is truly unique with its charming porches nestled within the tranquil Shenandoah National Forest. 

A three-story lookout tower is located on the south side of the inn. Enjoy the soft mountain breezes that sweep away the stress and hurried nature of modern life on the tower’s third level.

Carefully conceived and built to bring people and nature together---and respectful of the needs of both---the Iris Inn hearkens back to simpler times when the gathering of family and friends constitutes an event.  The Great Room offers such a gathering place. The room features a 3-story stone fireplace and an expansive hand painted Shenandoah Woodlands canvas by Clara Thompson. French doors lead to the back deck where you can watch the birds feeding asthe squirrels and chipmunk scamper by.

Overlooking the Great Room is a loft library where you can get to know the season’s bestseller. Or you can surf the web and pick up e-mail on the guest’s computer. The Iris Inn is a world away, yet minutes from the cultural hub of Charlottesville. Located in Waynesboro, the Iris Inn offers the closest entry point to both Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Great Meetings
Since the Iris Inn is located in a wooded setting overlooking the Shenandoah Valley, meetings here are less formal and more relaxed. A maximum of 20 guests may gather in our meeting room called the Deep Woods Suite. The Suite has a private deck, restroom, and an efficiency kitchen. We serve our in-room signature coffee, fresh baked muffins or speciality bread, and fresh juice each morning. A variety of lunch menus are available for a per person price of $10.00 and up.
Guest Information
Room Rates are for 2 Persons. All Rates include full breakfast. We accept Cash, Personal Checks, Travelers Checks or a major credit card.
  • Weekdays = Sunday - Thursday
  • Weekends = Friday - Saturday
  • All rates are plus 10% tax.
  • Weekend rates apply to certain holidays.
  • Extra person charge is $20 regardless of age.
  • 2 night stay required on weekends.
  • One night only is booked on weekends if space is available 1 day prior to date.
Reservations are only held with a major credit card number on a first come first serve basis. Reservations that are cancelled with notice of seven days or more are not liable for booking. All cancellations must be received by telephone to be valid. 

Cancellations received with less than seven days notice before arrival date are not liable if room can be rebooked for those nights. If room is not rebooked guests with be charged for all nights reserved.

Also: We cannot be responsible for inclement weather, therefore you will be charged for all nights you reserved. This policy does not apply to corporate travelers to the Waynesboro area businesses on Sunday - Thursday.
