Old stone walls crisscross the property while ancient maples shade the house in the summer and provide a private color show in the fall. A peaceful country setting central to all Berkshire attractions, the Jonathan Foote 1778 House is an historic Georgian farmhouse which welcomes you to step back in time. Lovingly furnished with art and antiques our home invites you to relax in comfort while enjoying the beauty of the Berkshires.

The Jonathan Foote 1778 House, conveniently located near Stockbridge and Lenox in the wonderfully restored town of  Lee, is central to all Berkshire activities. Lee has an interesting mix of restaurants and shops, and for serious shoppers the Prime Outlets are just two minutes away. Hiking and cross-country ski trails are all around us, including the Appalachian Trail.

Most major Berkshire attractions are just minutes away: Tanglewood, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra; major summer theatres, such as the Berkshire Theatre Festival, Barrington Stage, and Berkshire Opera; renowned dance groups at Jacob's Pillow; Mass MoCA, Norman Rockwell Museum, and the Clark Art Museum; Shakespeare and Co. at Edith Wharton's: The Mount; historic sites, such as the Hancock Shaker Village, Arrowhead, and Chesterwood; plus so much more.

Guest Rooms
The light filled, spacious guest rooms all have queen or king four poster beds, private baths, air conditioning and comfortable chairs for relaxing in the privacy of your own room. 

The five guest rooms ( including two suites) each has its own distinct personality and are furnished with art and antiques that have been collected over the years by the Innkeepers. Beautiful quilts, down pillows and comforters add to the ambiance and amenities such as toiletries, hairdryers, CD players and wireless internet access add to your comfort.

Rose Room
Conveniently located on the first floor, the Rose Room is named for the historic rose color and motif found throughout the decorative elements of the room. A queen four poster bed welcomes you and comfortable chairs provide space for private relaxation. The fireplace provides both charm and a romantic backdrop for the celebration of a special occasion. A modern bathroom with shower completes this room. The Rose Room also adjoins the Tavern Room, making it convenient for couples or large families.

Tavern Room

Tavern Room has it's own private entrance to the Inn and small patio with wicker seating area. One of our largest and brightest rooms, the Tavern room features a period thistle four poster queen bed. Comfortable chairs, a daybed, perfect for lounging or for a third person and full modern bathroom complete the room. 

Jonathan Foote Suite
The Jonathan Foote Suite works beautifully as either a bedroom with separate sitting room, or as a two bedroom suite. One room has a queen bed set in a cozy alcove, the other a luxurious king four poster bed. Both offer comfortable sitting areas for private relaxation and have separate access to the full antique bathroom complete with a claw foot tub. This spacious suite is perfect for either one or two couples.

China Blue Room

The China Blue Room is named for the historic blue color of the trim, the china-like pattern on the lamps and the blue and white china that lines the shelves over the fireplace. Enjoy a flickering fire from the room's queen four-poster bed. This charming, bright room has a private antique bathroom located just a few steps from the guest room's door.

Sarah's Suite
Sarah’s Suite, also known as the "honeymoon suite", is named for Jonathan’s wife and has a floral theme in its wallpaper and accessories. The large bedroom is full of light and features a king four poster bed and television. The sitting room under the eaves has a comfortable area to relax and a daybed perfect for a third person. Both rooms that comprise the Suite have private access to the full bathroom.

Guest Information
  • A full deposit is required for one-night stays. A 50% deposit is required for two nights or longer stays.
  • Three night stays are required for all July and August weekends and some holiday weekends during the year.
  • Two night stays are required for October weekends. 
  • Cancellations of 14 days or more will receive a refund minus a ten percent cancellation fee. If notice of cancellation is given within two weeks of your visit to the Inn, your advance deposit will be forfeited. The Inn will make every effort to rebook the room, and if we are successful, all but the ten percent fee will be returned to you. If you depart prior to your original departure date, you will be charged for the entire length of the reserved stay.
  • If you do not call to modify or cancel your visit, the Jonathan Foote House will charge the full amount of your reserved stay.
  • Extra Guest: Rates are based on double occupancy. Each Extra Guest in a room is $30 per night.
  • Special Dietary Needs: Please let us know in advance of your stay.
  • Check In : 3:00pm to 9:00pm (If Check In will be later than 9pm; please call for special arrangements)
  • Check Out : no later than 11:00am. Additional charges for late check-outs.
  • SPECIALS   Stay with us seven days and enjoy a free weeknight( a savings of up to $175) Stay four-six days and save $10 on your room each night. 
  • Sorry, no smoking is allowed indoors.
  • Well-behaved children, ages 12 and older, are welcome.
  • No pets are allowed except for Ceili, our Golden Retriever who is learning her duties as official greeter.

Halloween with Ceili
From the Mass Pike: Take Exit 2, the Lee Exit. Bear right at the end of the exit ramp onto Route 20 west. At 1/10 mile from the exit, turn right onto Fuller St., then left onto Greylock St., and right onto Maple St. Stay on Maple for 1/2 mile. At the “T”, turn left onto East Street. The driveway is an immediate left at the turn.
From Route 7 going North: At Stockbridge take Route 102 east, for 4 miles, to Lee. Bear left onto Route 20 west, passing the Mass Pike Exit. At 1/10 mile from the exit, turn right onto Fuller St., then left onto Greylock St., and right onto Maple St. Stay on Maple for 1/2 mile. At the “T”, turn left onto East Street. The driveway is an immediate left at the turn.
From Route 7 going South: At Lenox, bear left onto Route 20. Follow Route 20 until the south end of Main Street, Lee. Make a left at the "T" (Carr Hardware is straight ahead) and then another left at the sharp bend in the road, onto Park Street, bear to the right onto Maple. Stay on Maple for one mile. At the “T”, turn left onto East Street. The driveway is an immediate left at the turn.
