Sorensen's is an historic resort in the Sierra Nevada which is committed to providing hospitality, lodging and food services of the highest quality to visitors and guests. Sorensen's, elevation 7000 ft, is located in California's serene Hope Valley, a pristine pocket of the Sierra, 20 miles south of Lake Tahoe. The resort lies one mile east of the intersection of Highways 88 and 89. We are approximately 4 hours away from San Francisco, 2 hours from Sacramento and 1-1/4 hours from Reno, Nevada.

Lodging


St. Nicks Cabin

Choose from cozy bed-and-breakfast cottages to fully outfitted log cabins and contemporary mountain homes. All are situated on the edge of Hope Valley, an incomparably scenic alpine setting ringed by aspens and criss-crossed by trout-filled rivers. 

All our lodgings are housekeeping cabins, with daily service available upon request. Guests have access to the resort’s facilities, ranging from hammocks swinging under the trees, to a children’s catch-and-release trout pond, to our excellent Country Café.

Accommodations include one or two person cabins, two to four person cabins, group cabins, log cabins and vacation homes.

Bed and breakfast accommodations are also available. Each of these units sleeps up to two persons, and includes complimentary breakfast for two.

Gourmet Cuisine
Our café serves delicious meals three times a day. In between, guests can stop by for a complimentary cup of coffee or cocoa and afternoon glass of wine. Some of our specialities include classic beef burgundy stew, grilled salmon, New York steak, BBQ chicken and ribs, garden-fresh salads and sumptuous homemade desserts. We also offer an assortment of fine wines, champagnes and imported and domestic beers. The cafe is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Our Gift Shop
Sorensen’s quaint gift shop offers a wonderful variety of gift items. Choose from local wildlife and outdoor photography, art and gift cards or books on the Emigrant Trail, fishing or Sierra wildflowers, just to mention a few. We also carry an assortment of fine wines and gourmet foods. And if it’s Sorensen’s-branded mugs, clothes or hats you’re looking for, we have a great selection. Our book selection has been noted as “one of the best”.

Conferences & Seminars
Sorensen's makes an ideal setting for your special event. Our collection of cabins and other lodging areas make a relaxed setting for small conferences, seminars, and workshops. Facilities include the two-story Norway House, a sod-roofed, hand-hewn log structure imported piece by piece from its native land. Here, we can accommodate up to 50 participants in theater-style seating. Smaller cabins or outdoor sites can serve as break-out areas. Though we see ourselves as a low-tech resort (no phones in cabins, no TVs), we do offer computer link-ups and fax in the resort office.
