The
Inn at
Bed
and Breakfast
Stephens City, Virginia |
![]() We knew it the moment we saw it. An old mansion - nearly in ruins - rich in one family’s history and vacant for decades. The dream of a young artist and his family to build a home on the same ground… and an ancient limestone spring that must have drawn them to this place as it has drawn us. Here we would recreate a tradition of southern style and service that any resident from over 200 years of its known past would recognize as classic Virginian. The Inn offers twelve guest rooms in four different dwellings, all built on one hundred acres; six in the federal style Manor House, four in the Chumley Homeplace, one in the Gallery guest house, and one in the restored Millhouse Studio. All rooms feature a fireplace and most have a Jacuzzi. An overnight stay at the Inn includes a delicious three-course breakfast each morning. Virtually everything is prepared fresh from scratch and is presented with equal emphasis on pleasing the eye and the palate. The Inn’s breakfasts received national attention when they were featured in the March/April 1997 issue of Country Home magazine that included nine of our recipes as well as mouth watering photography |

Dining
Saturday night dinner at the inn is a special event. Following the 6:30 social gathering that features sangria or mulled wine and hors d’oeuvres, dinner’s bill of fare is announced by your hosts. Guests are then seated at romantic candlelit tables for two in the elegant manor house dining rooms. The four-course meal features the best the Northern Shenandoah Valley has to offer in seasonal produce, including herbs and watercress from the Inn’s grounds.
The Inn’s dinners have been featured in Southern Living Magazine and on PBS’ Country Inn Cooking and our recipes appeared in two cookbooks, Recipes for Romance and Country Inn Meals to Remember.
